Over the past 2 years my disabilities have become worse and I have more of them. My old, long time friends don't bother to call anymore and I'm not one of those that whines about my problems. I've accepted them, have learned to live with them and do my utmost not to let them get in the way of my normal day to day living. I'm becoming very lonely, have e-mailed folks at this site and received no reply in return. What do you suggest I do next? What has been your experience?

Hi Mary Ann!
I am really sorry no one has replied to you yet! I too have lost old friends and am not sure what to do next. I have gone through lonely times and times that were alright. I try and keep busy but I don't leave the house that often and when I feel sick it is almost impossible to do anything. The tv gets sickening, and the internet there is only so many times you can check the same sites. Have you tried writing others on this site? Or on any other site? Try other chat rooms, in yahoo, or other places I may not know of. People are less likely to respond to a post, but more likely to respond back to yuo if you respond to their post. If you set up ways fro people to email you, or send messages it could give something to look forward to. I don't know, I know it is hard and I know what it is like not wanting to go on an don about your disabilities, you kinda want to live withit and move on with things. You can write me anytime :)

`I feel the same way you both do. I was diagnosed in 2001 and got my disability in 2003 so I haven't really been disabled long. My friends say they care but go weeks without coming to visit or phoning me. I have no car and depend on others to get around. Especially for doctors and to go shopping. So if either of you want to email me I will respond, I promise. It's nice to know there are others here that feel the same way I do. I was beginning to think I was the only one. lol...hugs, Sandra

.Hi Sandra, I know how you feel my son is in the same boat, he doesn't drive, and depends on other people to drive him around. And like you his friends all have disappeared since his illness diagnosis. He is going on six years of survival of schizophrenia. He is lonely for companionship. I hope you get this message and can write back. |

`Maryann i am new to this site and have been on some other sites and did ok on them.As far as meeting women but when i decided to tell them about my disabilities i never heard anything back i am hoping that on this site people will understand. What it means i am not here just to meet a decent woman but to meet friends that can understand. For now i still can drive and get around but somedays it can be difficult. So if you need a male friend to talk to i will write you back. Feel free to write me anytime. Jeff

`As someone with a lifelong disability, I can only tell you that you aren't alone. The best advice I can give you is to get out there in the public, phone your friends, have little get-to-gethers and have fun! I have lived in Mexico for many years, wheelchair and all, and even though almost nothing is accessible, it isn´t much of a problem. If I need to get up a flight of stairs, there's always someone willing to help, and with a smile on their face. Don't be afraid to ask!

Like some of them have said , get out and make new friends do charity work etc. or you will become like me a hermit that never leaves the house unless just have no other choice. It is very lonely, and hard to find people to chat with. so get out there and see the world.

`Hello people I was a very fit man with no probs, then on the 7th April 2010 I had a operation for a mild bending of the fingers and woke up minus two fingers. I came onto this site for answers and to give help to anyone i could. But what do I find forums that are dead and buried, where the hell is everybody, why is this site still going, I spent 1 hour trying to find a forum that had posted in the last month, I only found 1 and it was mine. Come on folks no-one will find anybody unless friendships are forged first, going to sleep now hoping to find at least 1 reply by tomorrow come on people like you are crying out for a friend or partner or just for someone to listen and care what they are going through I know a forum that is busy 24hrs 7 days 52wks so come on any ideas how to start the longest blog in history, if not I will try to kick start one Love you ladies, proud to know you guys xx Roy
